Professional Background
Hal Kennedy has over 25 years of experience in investment banking, specialized in restructuring advisory and distressed finance. Prior to joining JW Infinity Consulting, he was a Managing Director at Jefferies & Company; a Director at Credit Suisse; a Senior Vice President at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette; and a Vice President at Drexel Burnham Lambert.
Over the course of his restructuring career, Mr. Kennedy has represented companies, creditors, equity holders and investors in both out-of-court and in-court restructuring. His out-of-court restructuring experience included 3(a)(9), 4(2) and registered exchange offers, consent solicitations and tender offers for securities at a discount. He has negotiated recapitalizations involving new capital investment from existing owners and new investors. His in-court restructuring experience included negotiating plans of reorganization, providing valuation analysis and testimony, conducting 363 sales and negotiating pre-packaged bankruptcies. Mr. Kennedy has structured, negotiated and executed rescue, DIP and exit financing. In addition, he has testified as an expert via trial or deposition in a number of Chapter 11 proceedings including Indalex, Nortel Networks, The Newark Group, Anacomp, Genesis Heath Ventures, Innovative Clinical Solutions, and Scott Cable.
He is also active in the Harvard Business School Club of New York Community Partners directing pro bono consulting projects for New York area nonprofits including: Family Services of Westchester (strategic plan), Project Enterprise (micro lending cash flow forecasting), Career Gear (men’s reentry competitive analysis), NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee (marketing brainstorming), SPRYE (aging in place brainstorming) and YWCA (strategic plan).
